Description

'ALCYONE' is a professionally restored example of this one-design class, by a qualified boat-builder from 2011-2019.
Alcyone was built by the well-respected yard of Cardnell Brothers on the East Coast for C J Tinson of Colchester in 1960. She was stationed in West Mersea during the 1960s. In the 1970s in Faversham in the new ownership of John Schwerdt of Lewes, Sussex.
Transported to Pembrokeshire she has been refurbished and restored from the keel up and is a fine and pretty example of this class of fast sloop. Shipped back to the Medway on the east coast, she was launched with the intent of making the most of winter sailing. Well mannered under sail and motor. She points up surprisingly well, turns within her length when going about, accelerates smoothly and slots into her groove, within a couple of boat lengths. She is an exciting and gratifying boat to sail, providing the helm with a very real and vital connection to the elements and glides so swiftly.

Lapstrake mahogany planked hull, copper fastened to steam bent oak timbers. Marine-ply decks, epoxy glass-sheathed. Mahogany cabin coamings and cockpit and epoxy ply.

6.5KW 9hp YANMAR DIESEL ENGINE, 33-litre fuel capacity, three-blade propeller.
Two batteries. 12-volt electrics with 10w Spectra solar panel charging.
BERMUDIAN SLOOP RIG with deck stepped 32ft. Douglas Fir mast. Stainless steel rigging. Six terylene sail, various makers. Serviceable condition.
Four Berth accommodation in two cabins.
